Opoponax
Opoponax (Sweet Myrrh) oil, Kenya Oil is derived from the raw material, a natural resin produced in a healthy tree (Commiphora Erythrea) native to East Africa. Although the material originates in Africa for years the oil has been distilled in the United States and Europe, especially France. Though similar to Myrrh there are some obvious differences an experience aroma professional can identify. Arctander describes the Opopanax as slightly animal like and similar to an emptied sherry glass. The Myrrh dry out on a blotter is also noticeably softer and weaker.
